ANZAC Day
Yesterday was ANZAC Day in New Zealand.
Read the comments below to see what we have learned about this very special day.
Autumn and Shakayla- yesterday was ANZAC day and it was a special day because they needed to protect their country from other countries. They went to War in Gallipoli. The hid in grass and holes in the mountains. And then they ran to other hole and dug more. THen they went on the boat and had heavy back packs. They had guns in the boats too. We have poppies on ANZAC Day because its a special flower, because it grows on the battle field grass where they were fighting and it grows between the graves. Mums, Dads and their kids survived them back in NZ. The took photos of the soldiers so we can remember them.

Check out our new playground
You might remember that earlier in our blog we said that we were writing letters to the BOT to get our opinion across about the playground being built at our school.
We saw the plans that were proposed by the BOT, and looked at the parts we liked and the parts we didn't like. Then we wrote Persuasive letters to share out views. Mr Kalaam read our letters and must have listen, because we can see some of our suggestions have been listened to.

Happy 101st Birthday Frankton
This week our school celebrated its 101st birthday. To celebrate we all get piece of a huge birthday cake! We had a big assembly to celebrate the different cultures in our school. Rongo and Taiana performed in the Kapa Haka and Pasifica groups. They were awesome! There was also the chance to win a poetry competition that the student counsel was running. We had to write poems about what the school meant to us. We wrote poems inspired by " Red Wheel Barrow" By William Carlos Williams. Here are a few:

Room 9 has thinking brains.
Do you know what we mean?
It means that we have got a virtues brain.
The virtues brain shows the virtues of:
Unity, Kindness, Respect, Cooperation,
Self Discipline and Peacefulness.
That’s not it though,
There are heaps more for us to learn.
