Upwords

Today Emma and Ella decided to play Upwords, which is like scrabble but you can on top of words and not just beside them.  We think we did a great job at it.  Plus we only had 4 letters left: N I S and Qu. These are some of the pictures :)

Then we destroyed it. Emma got to kick it and Ella was packing one.

Ella and Taiana Day 4

Instead of a report, today we looked at all the photos that have been taken at the games so far.  We picked the one that spoke to us and imagined we were them.  Miss Hammond could not decide between these two, so she has posted both!

I try to attack the ball as hard as I can.  Next minute I’m somersaulting high in the air; sticks flying, arms all spread.  I was spinning high in the air.  I couldn’t even think!  I bet all the people in the stadium thought I was trying to kick him as hard as I could in the guts.  In the end I didn’t even hit the ball L

My heart is beating.  I jump up and put my hands up as high as I could and …
I got it!  I hurry to the goal and bounced the ball as hard as I could, and I shoot it.  I scored!  I yelled, “We won, we won!”  The crowd cheered so loud.  That was the bestest day ever!

Check out our new playground

You might remember that earlier in our blog we said that we were writing letters to the BOT to get our opinion across about the playground being built at our school.
We saw the plans that were proposed by the BOT, and looked at the parts we liked and the parts we didn't like.  Then we wrote Persuasive letters to share out views.  Mr Kalaam read our letters and must have listen, because we can see some of our suggestions have been listened to.

Authors Visit

Today we were visited by the Author of "The Millenium Tree" Marnie Anstis.

Ella Says - Some people gave her questions and she gave us some really good answers.  We asked how many books she has written, which is one.  We asked her what her favourite book was and she said it was this one.  When she was little she use to write poems and books and she showed them to us.  They had lots of rhymes and things in them.  One of her poems was about a pig!

Heath Says - I Really enjoyed listening seeing the pictures because they had lots of interesting pictures.  There are pictures of mountains, a huge tree.

Shakayla Says - When Mr Oh asked her what tips she had for us budding writers.  She said we have to read lots and lots and lots!  Literally anything you see.

Ethan Says - Don't read easy books though because then you wont learn new ideas.

Rongo Says - I liked when she said how she made the book. At the end  I had to do the Kaia because we needed to sing a song at the end.  We sing a song for visitors to welcome them and i had to lead it.  I got just a little nervous but then I sang with Whaea Sandra, and Miss Hammond.
