hi miss hammond margaret mahy was born in whakatane in 1936, she wrote her first book at the age of seven called Harry is Bad. Her book a lion in the meadow was published in 1969. she has won many awards. she died in christchurch on 23/7/12. she was the oldest of 5 children. margaret mahy lived in governors bay on the banks peininsula canterbury in 2010 a television series Kaitangata Twitch aired on maori t.v, She also Had two daughters and one dog.
