Margaret Mahy Report

Margaret Mahy, 76, was a famous former librarian at a one of the public libraries in New Zealand.  She was also a teacher.  She had cancer that started early April and died of it on the 23 July 2012 at 3pm.  She was a great author in New Zealand.  She has 2 sisters that are older and she also had a younger brother.  She has one daughter.
She wrote her first book when she was 7 and it’s called “Bad Harry.”  She has since written over 200 book, but only 100 picture books, 40 novels and 20 collections of short stories were published.  Her books were translated into 15 different languages.
In 1980 Margaret Mahy became a full time author and went on to win numerous awards and honours for her country.  She also won premier children’s book awards.
When She was a little girl her mother forced her to bring, buy, fetch and carry everything around Governors bay in Christchurch, which was her home town.
John Key was at her funeral and it was a sad day for New Zealand.
